The Pillory of the Cathedral of Porto was built following the demolition of the surrounding buildings to the Cathedral, House of the Cabid and Episcopal Palace, carried out by the national policy implemented by the Estado Novo. The works were completed in 1940, with the new paved terreiro. The pillory we see today is a reconstruction of an engraving of 1797 and was inaugurated in 1945.
