Marble Street was the main street of the city, connecting the Magnesian Gate
(south) with the Korressos Gate (north). The south side of the street led to the
Temple of Artemis. It was constructed in the 1st century AD and its left side
was adorned with marble sculptures along its 4 km length. A woman, a heart and a
left foot had been drawn on the pavement of the street apparently to show the
directions to the brothel. [ephesus.ws]
The other side of the Marble Road was the Lower Agora.
