Bodrum Castle (Bodrum Kalesi) was built by the Knights Hospitaller starting in 1402 as the Castle of St. Peter or Petronium. Over the years it was attacked many times by the Muslims, its fortifications continually being added to by stones from the Mausoleum. It was eventually ceded to Sultan Suleiman in 1522, along with Rhodes. [Wikipedia]
