The Alhambra Palace and Granada |
|
Part of the Alhambra palace/fortifications seen from the gardens A Muslim fort, then palace, was constructed here on the site of a Roman fort, in the 13/14th centuries. The site was was taken over in 1492 by the Christian Isabell 1st, just in time to sponsor the first Atlantic voyage of Christopher Columbus. After being in ruins for centuries, the site was rediscovered by the British, after Napolean had once again flattened a historic site before leaving. |
