 Gwanghwamun Square was created by reducing 16 lanes of traffic down to 10 in the middle of Sejong-ro, which connects Jongno-gu Gwanghwamun to Sejong-ro intersection and Cheongye Square. Construction started May 27, 2008, and it opened to the public on August 1, 2009. It is 557 meter long and 34 meter wide.
