Gyeongbokgung Palace
is located in northern Seoul and was the main and largest palace of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon Dynasty.

First constructed in 1395, it was destroyed by the Japanese in 1590 and abandoned for almost three centuries before being reconstructed in 1867. It was destroyed again by the Japanese in the 1930's . Restoration has been ongoing since 1990..
